Student Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
If you are new to the arrival and dismissal procedures at DME, check out the amazing works of cinema here on our YouTube channel. This video was made a few years ago when we added PK to the campus. All information is still relevant with this ONE EXCEPTION: The side drop-off (cafeteria side) is for ILS/ECSE/PK/Kinder and 1st grade kiddos. All older siblings are sill welcome to enter the building with their younger siblings on the cafeteria side.
REMEMBER: the side drop-off CANNOT begin until 7:18, after all busses have exited the parking lot. Please no not pull into the drop-off lane until after 7:18.
Our dismissal procedures are also linked as documents on the DME Webpage
We know that things happen in your family that may require a change to the daily transportation for your child. We utilize this Change of Transportation Form for you to communicate with our office staff. Please fill out this form as EARLY as possible so we can get your child to the correct dismissal location. We do not check this form after 2:15pm as we are already starting to pass out yellow slips at this time of day. Please know that dismissal is very hectic as we try to get 600+ kids home. It takes time to organize all the changes and get notifications to teachers, so we cannot be processing changes after the 2:15 deadline.
We will NOT be utilizing an office/teacher emails this year for notifications. You are free to call to verify that your change from the Google Form was received, but we will not be accepting emails for dismissal changes.
Please assist us by having solid transportation plans for your child. It gets very confusing for your children and our staff if transportation changes occur too frequently.
The link to the change form is the large red button below or you can copy and paste this address.
Your children will rotate through music, art, PE throughout the week. Your child's teacher will share their specific Encore/Specials rotation schedule with you.
*Some of our larger grade levels will rotate through Library at this time as well. Other grades will go with their reading teacher to the library.
In an effort to streamline all outgoing communication from the district, campus, athletics and student organizations, MISD has launched a mass communication platform called Parent Square. You should have received an email that looked something like this:
Dolores W. McClatchey Elementary invites you to join ParentSquare.
ParentSquare Admin invites you to join ParentSquare at Dolores W. McClatchey Elementary.
The email went out in July and again around August 6th, so check your spam filters. I have included a QR code here as well to download the app and get started.
Our goal in implementing House Bill 1481 is to support our students as they adjust to this change and we are committed to working with families to ensure a smooth and respectful transition. Our focus remains on creating a learning environment that is focused, engaged, and free from distractions.
In this video, Superintendent Dr. Belding, Executive Director of Student Services Krista Tipton, and our secondary principals explain the new device pouches, and we've updated our Frequently Asked Questions to help families prepare.
